Practical advice from our team on keeping your home clean, getting your bond back, and making the most of a professional clean.

Cleaner carrying out a regular house clean

How often should you book a house clean?

There’s no single right answer — it depends on how many people are in the house, whether you have pets, and how much time you realistically have.

As a rough guide: weekly suits busy families, share houses and homes with pets. Fortnightly is the most popular choice for couples and smaller households — it keeps things under control without feeling excessive. Monthly works well if you tidy as you go and mainly want help with the bigger jobs like bathrooms, floors and kitchens.

If you’re not sure, start fortnightly. It’s easy to move to weekly if things slip, or stretch it out if your home is holding up well between visits.

End of lease cleaning: what gets checked

Final inspections tend to focus on the same handful of areas, and they’re usually the ones people run out of time for.

The oven and rangehood are the classic sticking points — baked-on grease takes far longer than most people expect. After that it’s bathrooms (soap scum, grout, shower screens, exhaust fans), skirting boards and door frames, window tracks, and inside cupboards and drawers. Marks on walls and light switches get noticed more often than you’d think.

Our advice: book the clean for after the furniture is out. A clean done around boxes almost always needs redoing.

Getting the most out of your clean

A quick declutter helps more than people realise. You’re paying for cleaning time, so the less time spent moving toys, clothes and dishes out of the way, the more time goes into actual cleaning. You don’t need to tidy thoroughly — just clear surfaces and floors where you can.

Tidy is about where things sit. Clean is about what’s on the surfaces underneath. A home can look tidy and still have grime in the shower, dust on skirtings and marks on door frames. A good clean deals with the second one, which is why homes often feel different after a professional visit even when they looked fine before.

The single most effective habit is squeegeeing or wiping the shower screen after use — it stops the mineral build-up that turns into stubborn scum. Running the exhaust fan for ten minutes after a shower makes a big difference to mould around silicone and grout, especially in older Melbourne homes.

No. Many of our customers are at work during their clean. We’ll agree on access arrangements beforehand, and we treat every home with the same care and respect we’d give our own.

Yes. We come fully equipped, but if you’d prefer particular products — for allergies, pets, sensitive surfaces or just personal preference — let us know and we’ll use them.

Deep cleans and spring cleans take longer than a standard visit, so they need a bigger block of time. A week or two of notice is usually enough, though spring and the pre-Christmas period get busy. End of lease cleans are worth booking as soon as you have your moving date.
